During a Typical or Minimal server install, Net8 Configuration Assistant configures a listener called LISTENER that has a TCP/IP listening protocol address for the Oracle8i database and a IPC listening protocol address for external procedures.

Net8 Configuration Assistant also configures the following static service information in the listener.ora file for:

• Oracle8i database service information

• External procedures

• Use the configuration for a Typical or Minimal installation

• Configure a unique listener name and a protocol address of your choice

Net8 Assistant enables you to:

• Create a listener

• Configure service information for Oracle8I release 8.0 or previous databases

• Configure service information non-Oracle database services, including external procedures and Heterogeneous Services

• Configure prespawned dedicated servers for environments not using multi-threaded server (MTS)

• Enable tracing and logging features

• Enable password authentication for LSNRCTL

• Register service information with an Oracle Names server

From the navigator pane, expand Net8 Configuration > Local > Listeners.
