Global Gateway Settings

Use this page to set a default Database Access Descriptor (DAD). A DAD is a set of values that specify how mod_plsql connects to a database server to fulfill an HTTP request. The PL/SQL Gateway allows PL/SQL-based applications such as Oracle Portal to execute. DADs are used for resolving URLs to the appropriate PL/SQL procedure.

Each DAD created represents a single instance of Oracle Portal installed in the database. All Oracle Portal content areas contained in this instance use the same DAD since they are all contained in the same schema.

Default Database Access Descriptor

Specify a path that points to the default DAD. If the end user enters a URL without specifying the DAD name, the home page for the default DAD will be displayed.

The default for this field is the name of the schema in which Oracle Portal is installed. You can change the default DAD name by typing a new one in this field.

Note

  • The default settings configured on this page will apply to all DADs. However, you can always edit these default settings for a specific DAD from its Database Access Descriptors page.
