Adding Directory Entries From Scratch
Adding individual data entries through Oracle Directory Manager:
To access this pane, click on Directory Entries in the Navigator pane. When the Directory Entries pane appears on the right:
- Click on the New
button in the toolbar.
- Enter the unambiguous Distinguished Name (DN) for the new entry, following the
naming conventions for LDAP, and using the formal name structure of the name
attributes (ex: cn=Patti Smith,ou=HR,o=Oracle,c=US). For more information on
this, refer to the Administrator’s Guide.
- Click the Object Class button and select the desired values from the Object Class list. When you select an object class, its attributes become new, blank
fields into which you enter data for this entry in this pane.
- To remove an object class and its attributes from this new entry, highlight it
in the Object Class field and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
- Enter the desired values into the mandatory and optional attributes for the
new entry. No data entry restrictions can be enforced by Oracle Directory
Manager, beyond data syntax rules governing types of values and allowing the optional
attributes to remain blank.
Note: You must enter the mandatory attributes before saving the entry.
- When you have finished entering the mandatory and optional data, click on the
OK button. If you do not want to save this entry, click on Cancel.
