Super Attributes

When you assign a super attribute to an attribute, the attribute inherits the properties of the super attribute. For example, if you create a new attribute called nickname with the super attribute name, the LDAP server will automatically apply the matching rules and syntax of name to nickname. In addition, if a search is done for the name attribute, nickname and other subtypes of name will be returned.

How to assign a super attribute:

  1. In the New Attribute Type window, click the Advanced tab.

  2. To the right of the Super field, click the Add button. A Super Attribute Selector window appears.

  3. From the Super Attribute Selector list, select the attribute you want to use as a super attribute, and click Select.

The selected super attribute appears in the Super field of the new Attribute Type Advanced pane.

Click OK to save.
