Configure a Connect Descriptor for Connections to Oracle Connection Manager

Client configuration for Oracle Connection Manager features requires a net service name with two network routes and source routing turned on.

The first network route specifies a protocol address for the Oracle Connection Manager; the second network route specifies a protocol address for the listener. Source routing specifies that both network routes be used. During a connection, the client connects first to the Oracle Connection Manager. The Oracle Connection then forwards the request to the listener.

To configure a client for Oracle Connection Manager:

  1. Create a net service name, as described in Create a Net Service Name, and configure the protocol address for the Oracle Connection Manager. Take note of the following when using the Net Service Name Wizard:

  1. In the right pane's Address Configuration box, choose plus (+). A new Address tab appears.

  2. Select the protocol and enter the appropriate listener protocol address information. If you are using TCP/IP, the default port is 1521.

  3. In the Address Configuration box, choose Advanced. The Address List Options dialog box appears.

  4. Select Use each address in order until destination reached, and then choose OK.

  5. In the right pane, choose Apply.

  6. Choose File > Save Network Configuration.
