Oracle advises creating a net service name for each service. If a net service name is not created, a user trying to connect will have to pass the global database name to make a connection. Rather than provide this information to your end users, create a net service name for the service.
To create a net service name:
The net service name can be qualified with the domain. The net service name is automatically domain qualified if the domain is specified. For further information about configuring domains, see Configure Default Domains for Clients.
| Note: Additional addresses can be created by choosing plus (+) at the bottom of the
Address tab. When multiple addresses are configured, you configure features,
such as connect-time failover, client load balancing, or source routing. To configure these features, choose Advanced under the Address tab.
|
| Note: If you want to configure advanced CONNECT_DATA options besides the destination service, choose Advanced.
