Create an Alias for a Network Object

An alias can be used for any type of item stored in the Oracle Names server, such as a Oracle Names server, net service name, or global database link.

To create an alias:

  1. In the navigator pane, expand Net8 Configuration > Oracle Names Servers.

  2. Select the Oracle Names server.

  3. From the list in the right pane, select Manage Data.

  4. Select the Aliases tab.

  5. Select Add.

  6. Enter the alias in the Alias Name field and the actual name of the object in the Canonical Name field.

  7. Choose Execute.

  8. Choose File > Save Network Configuration.
