You can configure listener to register database service information automatically with Oracle Names servers. This prevents you from having to manually register a database service with the NAMESCTL REGISTER command.

To set a password for the listener:

1. In the navigator pane, expand Net8 Configuration > Local > Listeners.

2. Select a listener.

3. From the list in the right pane, select General Parameters.

4. Select the General tab.

5. Choose Register Services with Oracle Names.

6. Choose File > Save Network Configuration.
