During installation, you were prompted to set the encryption scheme for passwords. If you are a super user, you can change that initial configuration.
To change the password encryption scheme:
Expand Oracle Internet Directory Servers. Select the directory server for which you want to change the password encryption scheme. The corresponding tab pages appear in the right pane.
In the System Operational Attributes tab page, in the Password Encryption field, select from the list the password encryption scheme you want to use. Options are:
No Encryption
MD4: A one-way hash function that produces a 128-bit hash, or message digest. This is the default.
MD5: An improved, and more complex, version of MD4
SHA: Secure Hash Algorithm, which produces a 160-bit hash, longer than MD5
UNIX Crypt: The UNIX encryptiona algorithm
After you select the password encryption scheme, click Apply.
