Passwords

Note that the passwords you enter do not appear on the page.

A super user is a special directory administrator who typically has completely open privileges to directory information. The user name of the super user is cn=orcladmin; the default password is welcome. Oracle Corporation recommends that you change the password immediately.

A guest user is one who in not an anonymous user, and, at the same time, does not have a specific user entry. The default password for a guest user is cn=guest.

A proxy user is typically used in an environment with a middle tier such as a firewall. See Oracle Internet Directory Administrator's Guide for more information about proxy users. The default password for a proxy user is cn=proxy.

It is possible to log onto the Oracle Directory Manager without giving a user name or password. If you do this, you have the privileges of an anonymous user. Anonymous users should have very limited privileges.

One of the first tasks of the system administrator is to set appropriate access rights for different types of users. As delivered, Oracle Internet Directory grants to everyone read, browse, and search access.
